On Friday, June 26, Lifetime Assistance and members of the agency’s Self-Advocacy group attended the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State (SANYS) Conference held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rochester, New York.

SANYS is an organization founded and led by people with developmental disabilities for people with developmental disabilities. The organization works to promote equal rights, inclusive communities, and person-centered supports throughout New York State.

During this year’s annual conference, Lifetime Assistance was honored to receive two awards recognizing the agency’s commitment to empowering and supporting self-advocates.

Lifetime Assistance was named the recipient of the 2026 SANYS Western Region Agency of the Year Award, recognizing the organization’s unwavering dedication to fostering self-advocacy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In addition, Samantha C., Associate Director of Day Services, received the Self-Advocacy Group Advisor of the Year Award. This award is presented to a group advisor who goes above and beyond in advocating for and supporting people with disabilities, helping to ensure they have the tools, opportunities, and encouragement to advocate for themselves and others.

These recognitions reflect Lifetime Assistance’s ongoing commitment to promoting choice, independence, and meaningful participation for the people the agency supports every day.
