ICF/IRA Floater (Hiring Bonus Eligible Position)
Provides training and supervision in activities of daily living based on each individual service plan. Including: self-help, communications, interpersonal relations, leisure activities, etc. helping each individual to be more independently. Promotes positive behaviors and interactions with all individuals. Provides direct assistance on an as-needed basis or as assigned to individuals with daily personal care needs, such as bathing, dressing and eating to assure individual needs are met. Accompanies and transports individuals on shopping and recreation trips and provides instruction and assistance as needed. Fulfills all advocate responsibilities as assigned. Communicates with family, guardian, correspondents and advocates for individuals. Serves as positive role model for individuals. Greets visitors to the home and assists in creating a warm and friendly home. Interacts with others in a way that will assist individuals in developing behaviors, skills and attitudes necessary for successful community living. Maintains neat appearance, hygiene and grooming. Promotes positive behaviors and interactions with all individuals. Observes all policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the handling of incidents, emergencies, operation of agency vehicles, handling of individuals funds and petty cash. Provides written and oral feedback to appropriate supervisory staff regarding individuals or program related concerns.
High school diploma or equivalent required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The responsibilities listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the abilities and knowledge for successful performance will be considered. In order to transport individuals, employees whose job responsibilities require transporting service recipients in an Agency vehicle or in their personal vehicle are required to meet VEHICLE OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS (with the exception of overnight positions). All employees are subject to background checks as required by the NYS Justice Center including, but not limited to, the New York State Child Abuse Registry, Staff Exclusion Lists, Fingerprinting/Criminal History Record Check and the Mental Health Law 16.34.
All employment offers are contingent on the positive outcome of all background checks and the successful completion of trainings required for each position.
Physical Requirements: Must successfully complete and maintain all required trainings including but not limited to First Aid/CPR, SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) and Medication Administration. Must be able to stand, sit, bend, kneel, squat, lift, move and transfer up to 50 pounds.
